Liverpool First for Health & Wellbeing
"...build Vibrant and Healthy Communities".
The partnership will be looking to accelerate delivery to improve the health and well-being for people of Liverpool, particulary the poorest and most disadvantaged.
The increasing number of joint posts between Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Primary Care Trust, including Joint Directors of Commissioning for both children and adults services - and a Joint Director of Public Health - will enhance this partnership collaboration. By working together, we can strengthen delivery and performance management of health and health related indicators.
By reviewing our governance arrangements and structure, we will be able to provide a firm basis on which to build the statutory partnership for Health and Well-being envisaged in the Local Government White Paper “Strong and Prosperous Communities”. We will also aim to achieve LAA targets, particularly in terms of cross cutting issues, namely:
- The promotion of sensible drinking in order to reduce the increasing number of deaths from alcohol related diseases;
- The challenge of tackling obesity in children under 11 years in partnership with Children and Young People’s service;
- Encouraging the development of ‘Health Related Social Enterprises’ as a means of delivery of the LAA in partnership with Enterprise and Economic Development and local communities;
- Laying the foundations of good health. We aim to do this by improving well-being for both mother and child during pregnancy, birth and the early life of the child. This is a shared agenda between the NHS and partners from Sure Start and Early years, Teenage Pregnancy Board, and Economic Development and Enterprise. The aim is to reduce childhood poverty and provide support through flexible working arrangements; and with Safer and Stronger Communities to enhance housing, liveability, safety and security.
