Liverpool First for Health & Wellbeing
Liverpool First for Health & Wellbeing is a partnership responsible for delivering the Health and Wellbeing outcomes of the City Vision.
Our vision is:
'By 2024, Liverpool will be healthy, with reduced inequalities, improved wellbeing and opportunities for all to live positive independent lives.'
The partnership will be looking to accelerate delivery to improve the health and wellbeing for people of Liverpool, particulary the poorest and most disadvantaged.
The increasing number of joint posts between Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Primary Care Trust, including Joint Directors of Commissioning for both children and adults services - and a Joint Director of Public Health - will enhance this partnership collaboration. By working together, we can strengthen delivery and performance management of health and health related indicators.
By reviewing our governance arrangements and structure, we will be able to provide a firm basis on which to build the statutory partnership for Health and Wellbeing envisaged in the Local Government White Paper “Strong and Prosperous Communities”. We will also aim to achieve Local Area Agreement targets, particularly in terms of cross cutting issues.
These include:
- Stabilisation then reduction in alcohol-harm related hospital admission rates
- Slow the increase, halt and reduce the numbers of obese primary school children in year 6
- Increasing prevelance of breast feeding at 6-8 weeks from birth
- Increase in the number of people achieving independent living.
