New Developments 

Central Government is responding to Local Authorities, recognising that those who are currently working on the ground may have a better view of what goes on in their area.  Because of this, and the fact that Local Authorities have also expressed their wish to set their own local priorities, the Department for Communities & Local Government (known as CLG) has dramatically altered the way in which Local Authorities will be required to report back.

This shift is represented in a significant change in the number of priorities which Local Authorities will negotiate with their Regional Governmental Departments. These priorities will be negotiated through Local Strategic Partnerships as they develop their Sustainable Community Strategies and seek to achieve their newly agreed outcomes within the existing Local Area Agreement Framework.
