23 July 2010 - RESPECT on the streets of Liverpool

Citysafe logoCITYSAFE, Liverpool’s Community Safety Partnership is hitting the road on Monday 26th July to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

A new mobile unit, commissioned by Citysafe is being unveiled on Monday at St Francis of Assisi Academy in Kensington.

The vehicle contains a wealth of information about what is being done to tackle the issue, and will travel around the city attending community events.

It has a comfortable seating area which will enable people to have conversations in privacy, and a flat screen TV to show DVDs containing key community safety messages.

Staff from Citysafe and partner agencies including Merseyside Police and Mersey Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand to give advice to residents who have community safety concerns.

They will also be using it to consult on the city’s priorities for crime and disorder over the next three years.

The unveiling also marks the start of the city’s Respect Weeks of Action programme for 2010/11, with the first taking place in Kensington and Fairfield.

The Respect Week of Action in Kensington and Fairfield will see work to tackle crime and grime, a variety of events for young and old and help and guidance into training and work, in ten wards across Liverpool between now and March 2011.

Last year’s programme reductions in crime and serious violence resulting from more than 400 arrests, 20,000 people given crime prevention advice and 400 tonnes of rubbish collected.
