18 June 2009 - Grants offered for good ideas
18 June 2009 - Liverpool City Council
COMMUNITY GROUPS in Liverpool can bid for cash to fund projects that benefit their community.
Liverpool City Council has made available one off grants of between £150 and £5,000 to support community initiatives which contribute to the well being of residents in every ward of the city.
Councillor Marilyn Fielding, Executive Member for Safer, Stronger Communities said, “I am delighted local groups can gain resources which will help them to make a big difference to the quality of life in their neighbourhoods.”
“This is the second year of this grant scheme and we expect it to be popular so we will give priority to those bids which are as inclusive as possible and have a long-lasting benefit to local residents.”
The Council hopes the grants will help more local people engage with local councillors and district committees when they see immediate, tangible results. The Fund called ‘The Councillors Community Initiative Fund’ (CCIF) aims to be a fast track scheme with as little time as possible between application and decision.
Proposals are particularly welcomed which enable communities from different backgrounds to get together or encourage groups to address issues that have been identified by the people they support and involve.
Grants can be between £150 and £5,000 and priority will be given to grass roots groups based in and benefiting residents in their own area.
No grants will be given for religious purposes, political activities, to individuals, nor for social care or health care. Fuller details are available in the application pack. The Fund launches on 22 June 2009.
