11 March 2010 - A knock out of an August
Following the success of the event last year, a leading charity organisation is hosting an “It’s a Knock Out” competition to raise money for good causes.
Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) will be staging the event at Mossley Hill Athletics Club on Sunday 22 August.
Twelve teams took part last summer and raised £10,000 for charity. It is hoped that even more can be raised this year.
Clare Beavan, Philanthropy Development Manager at LCVS, said: “The event last year was a huge success. Everyone had a great day and we managed to raise vital funds for local charities including the RNLI, Claire House and Henshaws Society for Blind People. We are hoping to do the same this year or even better.”
Clare is looking for 30 teams of between six and ten people (minimum height one metre) to take part. They will have to battle their way through a new series of events, which include giant inflatables and water pools made famous by the TV show.
Clare said: “The teams can consist of colleagues from local companies, sports teams, community groups, groups of friends – the competition is open to all. There will also be space on the day for any businesses, charities or voluntary groups to put up a stand promoting their work. There were several hundred people at the event last year so it is a good opportunity for local organisations to talk about what they do to Liverpool residents.”
The entry cost is £250 per team and every team taking part is encouraged to raise around £500 for a charity of their choice. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
