LCVS and the Women's Network are asking for people's opinions on a range of issues affecting women in the city.

The research, being conducted by Liverpool Hope University, looks to give some much-needed and insightful data into the issues women face in Liverpool. Questions in the survey cover health, wellbeing, sexual and domestic violence and equality.

LCVS has called on Liverpool's third sector to consider applying for a new fund, aimed at helping families and individuals avoid financial difficulties.

The £30m 'Improving Financial Confidence' programme run by the Big Lottery Fund offers grants worth between £500,000 and £1m for projects lasting three to five years. Schemes will have to be delivered by partnerships led by voluntary sector organisations.

The aim of the programme is to give people more confidence and skills in accessing and using financial services, such as bank accounts and affordable loans.

LIVERPOOL is glowing with pride after the city was selected to host the Olympic Flame as part of the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

The iconic symbol is set to arrive in the city on Friday 1 June next year, and plans are underway for a special evening celebration event to take place at the Pier Head to mark the unique occasion.

Liverpool is one of 66 locations across the UK confirmed today by the London 2012 Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

A 300 strong army of Census staff will start visiting households in Liverpool tomorrow (Wednesday 6 April) that have not returned their forms.

They are part of a 35,000 strong national workforce, and will be out and about on the city’s streets until the end of April.

During the last Census, only 89 percent of households in Liverpool returned the document, compared to a national average of 94 percent.

A CONSULTATION on the future of Liverpool’s library service is underway.

The service needs to save £2m (about 29 per cent) from its 2011/12 budget and difficult decisions about how this will affect the current provision need to be made.

The city council is asking residents to fill in the online questionnaire which is designed to explore the views of customers and give them the opportunity to have their say on what savings should be made.
