Community Engagement
People who have influence over decisions affecting their day-to-day lives are generally more satisfied with where they live.
Liverpool First wants people who live in, work in, visit and study in Liverpool to have more control over the services they receive, and a greater say in how their city is run.
How Liverpool First achieves this ambition is key to our success as a partnership, particularly now that we find ourselves faced with the challenge of delivering more for less.
Joining up the dots
Adopting a more joined-up approach is key if we are to achieve the sort of efficiencies that are now needed across the public sector.
By developing a more coordinated approach to consultation and engagement we have a real opportunity to improve engagement with communities at all levels, which will result in less duplication, improved services and better outcomes for all citizens.
The approach is part of a wider Total Place initiative being developed across Liverpool which aims to bring a, ‘whole area’ approach to the planning and delivery of public services. In turn, this will allow us to better understand the needs of our communities and provide services that directly meet those needs.
There are currently two documents being written to assist the city in how it engages with citizens and to help people understand how they can affect influence service delivery and inform policy and strategy - these are available below in draft form.
A Community Engagement Steering Group has also been established to develop an implementation plan for the approach and to carry out a baseline audit of existing partner engagement activity.
