Liverpool Community Network
Liverpool Community Network's (LCN) mission is to support and promote partnership working between Liverpool's Voluntary, Community and Faith sector and the member organisations of Liverpool First.
LCN is a 'Network of Networks' with a membership of 1500 voluntary, community and faith groups. These Networks cover the range of communities of interest, identity and place.
LCN was set up in 2001 to find new ways of involving all sectors of the community in consultations and decision-making.
By working in partnership, LCN is succeeding in:
- Informing communities about issues which matter to them
- Influencing public agencies in the design and delivery of better services
- Improving quality of life through representation and participation
Liverpool is in the process of developing a new agreement with the voluntary and community sector called the Liverpool Compact. This document sets out a number of principles and guidelines as a framework for good relations between the voluntary, community and faith sectors and Liverpool First. The new Compact has been circulated to Liverpool First members for consultation and welcomes comments/feedback from all areas of the private, public, voluntary, community and faith sectors. To download the draft Compact and read more about the consultation, visit the consultation pages.
LCN welcomes all VCF groups and organisations and is free to join. Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) services LCN and is a Liverpool First partner in its own right. More information about LCVS is available on its website http://www.lcvs.org.uk/.
Ward-based engagement events
'Your Community Matters' are ward-based community engagement events, which are designed to enable residents to meet key decision-makers, including representatives from Liverpool Council, Liverpool Primary Care Trust, Merseyside Police amongst other partners, to discuss what can be done to improve their neighbourhoods.
They are designed to give people a voice regarding issues that concern their particular area. Problems such as fly-tipping, anti-social behaviour and a lack of facilities have been identified, and greatly improved, as a result of these events.

State of Liverpool's third sector 2008 survey
In November 2008, Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) began the process of contacting organisations within the Liverpool area, asking them to complete a short survey to gather key information around how they're coping during these times of financial uncertainty.
527 surveys were returned, which represents a 33% response rate. The information gathered in this report should give some insight into understanding Liverpool as an environment for a thriving third sector.
